DOVE TALES

poems for peace

Below you'll see six fantastic images by three great photographers. Angela Catlin, Ray Evans and David Pratt have all contributed in the past to Dove Tales events and website.

Click on each image to see a larger version and to visit the photographer's page, where you'll find a fuller explanation to the background of each image.

We're looking for poems of up to 60 lines, flash fiction of up to 500 words, and prose up to 1500 words responding to the images. Please send in Word format as we don't have the technology to deal with PDFs.

Submissions open till Mayday, 1st May. Dove Tales was supposed to be in Wigtown on that day and to be taking part in the Scottish Peace Network peace picnic that weekend so it seems a fitting date.

Initially we'll be displaying the chosen work on our website. Who knows what will happen after that?

Please send your submissions to jeanrafferty.fireopal@btopenworld.com

All photographs are the copyright of our photographers. They're fantastic pictures and if you would like prints of the images, click on the photographer's page and find out how to order them.

Tens of thousands of civilians fled Mosul and the surrounding villages and towns in 2017, after most of the infrastructure, including the hospitals, had been destroyed. At the Iraq/Kurdistan border refugees waited for buses to take them onwards to the safety of displacement camps in Kurdistan.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.                                                         Margaret Mead
