STAND FOR PEACE

Alex Pearce

It's a very simple choice as I see it,

A choice between Love and Hate,

It's wanting the best for our Brothers,

Not building a wall but a gate.

It's a very simple choice as I see it,

Choosing compassion and care.

A future of hope for all children

Of hope and not of despair...

And I WILL not brand it, an Impossible Dream.

For Love is an act of the WILL.

And if all of us WILL, Love over Hate,

If we all refuse to just accept fate,

Hope could triumph still!

It's a very simple choice as I see it,

A choice between Light and Dark.

As a lighthouse shines through the darkness.

As a lantern flares from one spark.

It's a very simple choice as I see it,

To be that light in the night.

To burn bright while the storm rages round you.

A safe harbor from the fight...

And I WILL not brand it an Impossible Dream.

To be a light is an act of WILL

And if all of us shine one small Light in the Dark.

If we all in our own lands are striking a spark.

Light could extinguish the darkness still!

It's a very simple choice as I see it,

A choice between Life and Death.

Families thriving and happy,

Or parents, children left bereft.

It's a very simple choice as I see it,

To choose life for every soul.

To see all of the world as our brothers.

Every death as a loss to the whole...

And I WILL not brand it an Impossible Dream.

For to live is an act of the will.

The hardest thing, each time the world knock's you out,

To try one more time, to take one more bout.

Cheats death of its victory still...

It's a very simple choice as I see it,

A choice between War and Peace.

Children playing unafraid in the garden,

Or in the ashes of what once was a street.

It's a very simple choice as I see it.

To choose diplomacy over war.

To talk, rather than bombing the other.

To build a better life for us all.

And I WILL not brand it an Impossible Dream.

For Peace is an act of the will.

It is not the deluded hope of a child

Nor the province alone of the meek and the mild.

But an act of courage still.

So I will not brand it an Impossible Dream.

That every war should cease.

And I'll stand to the end, against no-one,

Endorse no party or person.

But simply, stand for peace.

ALEX PEARCE OF STAND FOR PEACE

Who am I? I'm no-one, and I don't say that in the hope of being contradicted or as some kind of humble brag, it's simply true.

I'm not a known name, a professional poet or published author. I'm a full-time T-shirt printer who simply dabbles in poetry as a way to express thoughts I cannot put into words otherwise.

I am a T-Shirt Printer, turned poet turned Peace Movement organiser.

Stand For Peace (www.standforpeace.co.uk) like me is a group of ordinary people, some Ex-Military, some concerned Parents and Grandparents, but people who recognize, in the rhetoric and rhythm of the media reports, an inexorable March to WWIII. Recognize and feel called to speak out against. So we have come together to launch Stand for Peace. We are worldwide, because the same dangers face us all, we are grassroots, because it is the man in the street whose sons and daughters will be called on to fight this war, and, we will not be silenced!
