JOSEPH PEACH

Joseph Peach is a traditional musician and writer, working solo and with other musicians. His current release is an EP with fiddle player Charlie Grey.

My delight in Scottish music stems from my earliest musical experiences - contact with people deeply connected to their tradition in every sense: the language, people, music and landscape of my home town of Achiltibuie.

From family members, neighbours and friends I learned the Highland bagpipes and accordion by ear, and built a strong affinity with this music and culture. A final year of School spent at the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional music uncovered a new passion: the piano, and more specifically exploring the ways in which I could express this music. My imagination was truly captured by the seemingly limitless number of possibilities this instrument offered.

In subsequent years I've graduated from a degree in Applied Music from the University of the Highlands and Islands and I'm currently taking a Masters in Music at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
